2012 is up soon..

just got my master degree 2012 intake interview in 2 weeks time. 10 candidates are selected and have no idea how many ppl they will choose. will i be one of them? God knows. I just try my luck.

also applied for trainee lecturer in a local uni as my back up plan if i failed to take master degree under MOH (ministry of health). If i got this, can take master degree sponsored by the uni i applied.

If i failed both, i'll consider of just being a normal GP.

so...2012, here i come...good luck to me!

Trip to Kuching was great and Sarah ate mee kolok 2 days in a row. It's one of her fav dish and she hv not been eating for months! (no mee kolok in peninsular :( )

i'm happy with my family , husband and a daughter I have.
I really do.

But at one point, I'm now not happy with other thing not involving family or friends.

I currently can't picture myself in the next few years for what I'm facing now.
I do know God is giving me this challenge and see if I will do anything about it.....

I hope I have the patience and strength to go on and face this.
Whatever it is....i know He hv better plan for me as long as i choose what my path is...
whatever it is...I still have my passion on my job.

I've been reading 2 novels recently.

Book 1

It's a novel about a boy with Asperger's Syndrome (something like autism) and somehow got 'involved' in murder. I can say that it's relatively a good book to read. More of family issue and how love bring them together esp brotherhood. Ironically, i can predict how he got 'involve' with murder before i even reach the last few chapter. It was one of my possibility though.

Book 2

Book about a women who have been going through a lot sufferings. A conflict of culture and religion. I hope people who read this won't think that Islam is a cruel religion because when was described on what she had experienced is more of cultural thing and how some people use the name of 'Islam' to make their own rules. A person who practice Islam and have good knowledge of the religion forbid suffocation and torture other people especially women. Anyway, I pity this lady for the unfinished business with his eldest son.

Thankfully this book didnt put me in tears like a book which i read last year (recommended...look below)

Seriously this book put me to tears.

Taiping Mari

Went to yesterday. It was actually a spontaneous trip. We left about 3 pm . S'posed to be a day trip but end up staying over for a night. Had to leave Taiping early today since hubby have to go to work at 3pm. Bummer!

I enjoyed the trip. Went to Kuala Sepetang for the must-have Mee Udang. Too bad the well known Mee Udang Mak Jah and Mee Udang Mak Teh closed already (FYI we arrived Taiping around 8pm-some massive jam from ipoh-kuala kangsar highway and went straight to Night Safari then left for late dinner around nearly 11pm).

Definitely coming back to this place for photo hunting and mee udang.

Stayed over at a place called Casavilla Hotel which cost us RM75 a night + free wifi and we liked it since it's clean and hygienic like brand new.

Left Taiping around 9am.

This weekend is great!!

Free from routine work at hospital since public holiday (Thursday, Friday) plus weekend! (although i do oncall over the weekend)

But too bad my li'll Sarah is not around. Things will more fun.
The only thing that made it less thrilling is my husband work round the clock (locum+job). If only he is also free.

What did i do?

Thursday
Went to One Utama. Havent there for ages. Think the last time was when i was a uni student.
Best time to go since it was not crowded at all (CNY that day) and i practically can walk at each and every corner of this mall until I sweat! No joke! Easy parking and believe it or now I managed not to shop. Left home empty handed and spent only RM1 for parking. wee!

Friday
Went to PKNS (Shah Alam) to alter my hubby's trousers. I didn't know that it was BLARDYY expensive to alter just the length of the trousers. Cost me RM10 to alter 2 pants for an hour wait! Huh! While waiting, had beef prosperity meal at McD for lunch and bought a blouse that cost RM35!
Once done, I head straight to MidValley. Yes, yes I know, I've been doing a lot of walking since the day before.

Saturday
Back from morning review and went home. Made leftover Nasik Aruk aka Nasi goreng then off to stop by at hubby's place to give him the food. Plan to go over to in-laws house but they are not around. So head off to The Curve + Ikea since it's nearby hubby's place. Thought of going to my friend's newborn's 'doa selamat' but had something on at hospital.

Nasik Aruk aka Fried rice

Ingredient
-left over rice (defrost in microwave it if stored in fridge)
-left over fried cabbage
-anchovies
-eggs
-garlic and onion

1. Just add a dash of oil on the wok
2. Throw in smashed garlic and sliced onion.
3. Add anchovies and leftover vege
4. Put in beaten eggs
5. Sprinkle black pepper,
6. Cook till egg dried up.
7. Now can put in leftover rice and mix the whole thing up
8. Add a li'll soy sauce and salt accordingly
9. Fry till all nicely mixed and dried.
Voila!

My hubby finished up the rice.
Good thing all my leftover is now a game-over! Nothing thrown to the bin :)

So today, a young lady came to clinic for right ear pain.

Thought that it may be a normal ear infection but as I examined her ear.....

Yup, true!

I've been neglecting my blog so a while. Practically almost lost my mood to blog.

So now, life is so far okay.

- Financially still like a roller coaster since I live here. Sigh! But still thankful anyway.
- It's been 4 months working in ENT. All i can say it is a whole lot of drama despite being in a small department. We have even came down to only 2 MOs in the department and do EOD calls and at one time do back to back calls. Anyway, am thankful that it's not an active call like any other major department like medical.
- Desprite on passive call, if there is a lot of case that made u hv to drive about 29km in the middle of the might for few times..now that IS tiring!
- My little Maisarah have been with us since after hari raya. Great to have her around and see her grow
- Parents have been around in KL since the start of school holiday.
- They will be flying back to Kuching tomorrow with my little Sarah.
- Now i feel like flying to Kuching too.

I need Kuching airrrrr...BADLY!

This place have contaminate my mood. I need to detox it at Kuching.

Follow up from previous entry...

Anyway, as i returned home yesterday, I was being asked by dad if any dead body brought to hospital. A body in black n red stripe t-shirt.

Bingo!
Yup, the description was the same as what i saw that night.

I ask dad how in the world he knew bout it.

He told me that the body was found in the neighbourhood around 5+. At that time dad was chit chatting with a neighbour then suddenly heard someone screamed and wailed.

So dad and our neighbour rushed to the location.
They happen to see a dead body at the location. The police was still not around yet at that time.

Now that give me a creeps...

So today I flipped through newspaper..

During my working shift today, I attended a BID case (short form for 'brought in dead'). Was told to be a murder case somewhere in Petra Jaya.

Checked the dead body. Still remember the body in black n red stripe t-shirt. I shall not describe furthur.

Never liked to see a BID case cause I'll have to climb up police truck that look like a 'dungeon' to me. So dark, gloomy and spacious with a dead body in a black bag.

And I hate to open up the bag cause I never like to see the face/expression of a dead body if it's an unknown case of death/murder. I shall not describe more coz I'm sure u can imagine how it's like look at a body who struggled to live or strangled.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll be out in the news soon.

Finally!

I found my dance CDs. It's been a while.

So I danced for about half an hour. Oh boy, i realized that my stamina is not great at all! But it felt great. Stress all out and feel better now (teehehe!). Then after half an hour of moves. Browse through the whole CDs and think back how in the world i manage to do it in a whole stretch!

Anyway, I went to MPH 2 days ago and found myself buying this book ....

It's about a girl who was raped and murdered, watches from heaven as her family and friends go on with their lives, while she herself comes to terms with her own death.

Bought this cause the first page of the book seems interesting.

And I just knew that there is a film adapted from this book.
Have anyone watch this movie?

This is something I went through yesterday and still can't get off my mind....

Sad for a journey...

A lady at age of 33 came in on bed trolley brought her mother in law.
No known medical illness and gave birth 2 months ago.
Complained of vomit and diarrhea for 3 days
with loss of appetite and felt weak.
She ate only 3 spoons each meal and that's it.
She didn't complain of anything else despite being questioned more

Blood pressure OK,
Oxygen saturation ok,
no fever documented.
But her pulse rate is 148bpm
.....which is super duper fast.

She was very dehydrated.
Hydrated her...
She even walked to toilet to pass urine.
Furthur questioned, she mentioned she had episodes of palpitation since last week...
...but resolved spontaneously.
No symptoms of hyperthyroid.
Did ECG, CXR and some blood test.

Suddenly....
In a nick of time....
She had shortness of breath,
Breathing extremely fast
and sweating like mad

Prior to that,
she was upgraded to redzone (more critical zone AKA warzone)

She suddenly collapsed...
not breathing...
no pulse detected....

She was intubated.
CPR done.
Manage to get her back.

But....
she is not doing well
And she is deteriorating fast.
In fact too fast.

Maximum effort was done.
Her condition explained to family member.
It was hard on them...
But they let God decide..
How her fate will be..
While we tried our best

She continue to deteriorate.
Her close family member gave their last prayer next to her
... especially her husband.

Overheard him..
While i struggled with another patient ...
Was trying to hold back my tears ....
His last words still echoed in my mind..

I feel sorry for her...
For her husband...
as well as their 2 months old baby....
and their other children.

Once again..
I'm sad..
Touched....
Sad for a journey...

It's been 6 days of tagging. Getting to know n feel working as an MO. More responsibility and more obstacle.

Somehow miss my HO-ship.

It's scary. I feel like a 'MO-nyet' instead. Still crawling and need hand-gripping.

One of my boss do notice that i become more quiet since my day 1 MO.
She's right.

I guess i'm stressed. And i am furious. Trying to catch up to face this new challenge.

Damn! I have not been consistant with my blog routine.

Not that i dont have my time. Just plain lazy.

Speaking of lazy i should do my best (in fact I MUST!) overcome this laziness in me. It's invading me till I got totally drowned in it.

So i did gain back my old habit of reading.

I can't believe it though i may not be able to read as fast as before since i have other commitment! Have read Kite Runner and A Thousand of Splendid Sun written by same author (recommended by friend).

Then i did my best to find my time to challenge myself physically. But it's still not a routine. Now i need to fix this. Hurmph!

And since i find my brain is degenerating,i try to find my way to remember stuffs at work. Not applied fully. Not even half.

But at least i have small achievement.

I'm NOT trying to be a nerd or overly ambitious....

I'm just want to ...
Be a good mother....
See my family grow with myself being physically and mentally fit....

Starting to like ED surroundings. I mean the boss as well as colleagues. (Unlike surgical where 'the EGO never lands' and the 'non-friendly' paeds. Though I hate the hectic surrounding. )

It's not bad after all since i'm considering these ...
- no ward round,
- able to see sun rise in the morning,
- able to have a sleeping day after oncall.
- no endless joblist
- able to feel like other ppl who it's like to go to work at 8am
- encounter weird cases

Things that make me 'vomit blood' in ED
- ppl (patient and families) who don't understand the system of work in ED and doesnt want to understand
- impatient patient
- uncivilized educated people
- ppl with no manner
- patient who simply come and create their illness/pretend to be sick just to get MC for day off from work (then they will get mad and threatened to lodge a report to any sources for not giving MC)...what the heck?!
- no courtesy

Ah well, what the heck..it's still much better than before.

It's been agess!!!!

Well peeps, sorry for not updating my blog for ..??( can't recall when was my last entry)

Currently
- My girl is 7+months. Love to play and socialize. Learning more and more.
- Left medical department and missing those moments.
- I'm now in A&E (accident and emergency) a.k.a ED (Emergency Department) with different working shift. Totally different than previous department. Love the fact I don't have to do ward rounds and climb stairs(yup, lift takes forever to save ppl's life...erk!) as often in 'fast and furious' pace.
- ED means MORE DRAMA!

Now, here's something I'ld like to share...
I'm planning to make an online shop. Nothing fancy or big. Plan to gather items and out for sale once a month. I'm giving it a trial. Will be open for business by next month.

What will i sell?
I'm a big fan of bags. So far I will be selling handbags. I'm not selling it in a big collection. Just limited items and updated monthly. It's just a small online shop. If i have good response, I'll see what i can do in the future depending on my work schedule.

When?
Will be announced by next month (April).

Why?
For fun and I find bags so lovely and end up buy more than i need.

Brand?
Well, wait till it's out. Real and original stuff.

Small doctor, big doctor

Today came across a snobbish patient. This patient and her husband came stat to daycare coz she was unwell. So the moment i was done with other patient i attended them.

Greeted n asked the patient and her husband nicely however i got no respond at all. They don't even want to look at me n say anything!

They are actually known case for being like that to 'small doctors'. They only want to be seen by 'bigger doctor'!

Ah well, whatever. After all, who are we?

We're just a small doctor with big heart!

G'bye 2009...Hello 2010!

Hope this year will bring better future ahead!

Last year was interesting for me. Lemme recall what i can remember...
- Been through working in 3 department : Surgical, Obstetric and Gynecology as well as Medical.
- Being a pregnant house officer with ups and downs (up till now I just couldn't believe that I worked until post-date! It's a miracle for me cause going through it is tough for me. Thanks to support around me :)
- My beloved grandpa passed away peacefully a week before baby Sarah was born. Thanks to grandpa, i think learn a lot from him. (Patient is the best teacher).
- Maisarah was born on 30th July 2009 (30/7/09) weighed 3.07 on 40weeks4days (post-date baby).
- Being a mommy (sometime i feel like I'm a lousy mommy).

This year?
- lose it lose it lose it (.....the excessive adipose tissue ...)
- be a better mother to Sarah
- waiting for transfer letter (stay with hubby and see our baby grow together!)
- Experience and absorb more new stuff
- Finishing my housemanship (if there is no obstacles), where to after HO?

Many more but i'll just highlight the most important thing).

Wow! It's been a while!Lots n lots on things happen. I'll just summarize n will only type what i remember.

-My girl is growing up real fast. She can do lots of things already. I'm enjoying every moment with her.....but i hate it when working hours is longer than the time i spend with her..sighh.

-Back to work after 2 months maternity leave....only 2 weeks in Obstetric and Gynecology then shift to Medical department as a 5th poster. As usual hated tagging week.

-Didn't like Medical at first then it slowly get into my nerves. But I'm not planning to be a physician.

- glad that i'm not working with a team that has 2 colleagues that is giving me a PITA . Not that I'm very good...but Its just that there are 3 ppl in a team but feel like working all alone...esp when patient collapsed. Darn! The other 2 always missing in action n still can 'catwalk' in ward.

- These underpressure gave an effect to my BM production.....I start to feed my baby FM(formula milk). Darn! I feel such a lousy mum! Still BF my girl whenever stock is available or as soon as I return home.

-Currently working in Geriatric Ward......so u know how it is...think i'm getting old along with patients I see.

At least i'm now stress-free and can do lots of things.

Her stroller which i ordered online(see previous post) has arrived around late September.
They don't have the colour i want (Corallo stripes), so i changed my order to titanium stripes.
No problem for me,as long as they have this type of stroller.

Worth it!

Today i realize that i'm not fit! Before and during pregnancy I can still rush out things without body ache. Now, i easily get backache and breathless. Hmmph! Need to buckle up and do a li'll exercise (yeah rite!)

Labour ward went crazy since the moment I came to work this morning.

Plus today is admission day, so everything went huru-hara but manageable(thanks god..there's A LOT of us!)

Let's just say today is PIH(Pregnancy Induced Hypertension) day! Lots of PIH admission.

Whats PIH? (note : this is for public reading so I won't go into detail. Don't diagnose yourself based on this info,go and consult doctor)
-It's a form of high blood pressure(BP) in pregnancy.
-main characteristics are : BP >140/90 or significant increase in one or both pressure, protein in the urine, edema/swelling
-Eclampsia is a severe form of pregnancy-induced hypertension. Women with eclampsia have seizures resulting from the condition.
-HELLP syndrome is a complication of severe preeclampsia or eclampsia. HELLP syndrome is a group of physical changes including the breakdown of red blood cells, changes in the liver, and low platelets (cells found in the blood that are needed to help the blood to clot in order to control bleeding)

Who are at risk?
-First time mother
- sisters or mothers with PIH
-Multiple pregnancies
-pregnant at the age of 40
-Teenage mothers
-those with kidney disease or high blood pressure before becoming pregnant

How does it effect baby?
- prevents the placenta from receiving enough blood
-improper supply of blood cause baby receive less food and oxygen.This can lead to lower birth weight/IUGR
-Placental abruption or also known as premature detachment of the placenta from the uterus may occur in some pregnancies.

Other concern?
-Increase resistance of blood vessels hinder blood flow in many different organ systems in the expectant mother including the liver, kidneys, brain, uterus, and placenta.
-If untreated, severe PIH may cause seizures and even death in the mother and fetus

I won't explain detail on symptoms as different women may develop different symptoms. You can read from other article but once again i remind you...do not diagnose yourself!

- It's been a week already!

-One thing bout nice being back to work is to see colleague after 2 months of maternity leave.

-Felt strange during my 1st few days at work due to many new and unfamiliar faces.

-sad. Coz lots of 'old' colleague no longer work in Obgyn department.

-amnesia. forgot the daily work routine. Take some time to recall what to do.

-Late. Been trying to come early to work but failed coz my baby have been up after midnight every day to 'keep me awake'. She wants to play/talk/look/laugh at me at that wee hour. Only manage to sleep at 4am or sumtime 5am. Everyday is like oncall to me.

-currently having URTI*. Have to use mask at home to prevent transmission to baby Sarah.

-Lunch break. Before this lunch break = lunch + gather with other colleague + chit-chat + sleep. Now lunch break means = immediate leave ward after i settle my work + head straight to cafe for lunch + EBM* + no sleep + back to work immediately

-Manage to express BM* at work

-Target to go back on time. I do not want to waste everysingle minute wasted without baby Sarah.

I'm sleepy and tired....g'nite... **yawn**

Today is my 2nd day back to work. Very tiring. By the time i lie down on bed, i feel my whole body aching.

Common phases I come across since back to work yesterday,

Today is my last day of maternity leave. I'm back to work tomorrow after a short 2 months of break. :(

That means, i'll leave baby Sarah behind while i work....
Need to do some preparation today.
Hopefully i can cope up with every changes.
Hope my li'll girl will be strong and good.
Just can't imagine how it'll be tomorrow.
I'll be working till evening.
Thankfully my mum work until afternoon. So the baby is taken care by my helper for half day.

Succesful bottle training!

Previously I mentioned that I feed expressed milk by cup. Like this...

Then i started to think that i should train to bottle feed her coz i'll be back to work soon and cup feeding can be quite a fuss if someone who take care of her is not used to it.

Earlier on, I tried Avent bottle.
I've bought the Avent 'out and about' breast pump so they provide 2 bottles for milk storage.
She didn't like it. She only had her 1 oz (plus minus spillage) just because she was so hungry. Then she refused it since then. Noticed that my baby's sucking reflex on bottle is different, unlike breastfeeding (a natural sucking reflex consist of suction and compression)

I start to worry as i will be working for very long hours especially during oncall.

So i surveyed for suitable bottle yesterday. I bought 2 types, which are 'The first year:Breastflow' and 'MAM' (yeah i know i wasted my money but i'm doing this for the sake of my girl)One each.

Today, I tried 'The first year'...and voila! Successful! Phew what a relief. Yay!

I'm going to stick to this bottle and plan to buy several bottles tomorrow. Thankfully it's cheaper than 'MAM' (I havent try that product on my baby..but I'll stick to what she can adapt to).

I can recommend this brand to parents if u want ur baby to maintain your baby's natural sucking reflex. It's the bottle most like breastfeeding. Ideal for parents who would like to introduce a bottle and still want to breastfeed at the same time. The baby won't be confused due to different sucking reflex on an ordinary bottle.

Currently reading this book..... (happen to see the book at my dad's bookshelf so i gave it a try.)

Start to read this book about a week after Maisarah was born. Until now, I hvnt even get to half of the book. It's interesting and makes me want to keep on flipping the page but i got lots of things to do ....well u know...the usual stuff u do when u have baby.

There she goes, laughing hilariously and sez 'Hahaha, I bet mummy can't even finish reading that book...!'

I've been looking around for stroller since early pregnancy. Did some window shopping and surf online for something that fit my 'criteria'. I almost plan to buy 'Graco' stroller which include stroller and car seat for baby. Thankfully i didnt.

Earlier on I plan to buy stroller which is not over RM1000. Changed my mind and raise my budget up to RM1500 and below. I wanted a good stroller that has good durability and can be used for traveling or even for shopping/evening walk.

Last nite i've finally made my decision. This is what I want...

It's Peg-Perego SI. I've made my order today and I chose 'Corello Stripes' design. Initially the price is RM1399 but since the store (LittleWhiz- u can visit the site which can be seen at the column on your right under 'ads') is having sales, the price is down to RM1199. Not bad! I have been doing alot of survey so i hope Ive made a good choice :)

Hubby went back to KL yesterday. Cried last nite...(damn! Can somebody teach me how not to cry?)

Maisarah really miss him. She was extremely manja with him around.

Went for baby check up and vaccination y'day. She's already 4.2kg!

I trained her to drink expressed milk. Even tried not to be around her for quite sometime...roughly 1.5 hours (off to airport to send hubby). Mom took care of her while i was away and gave her my expressed milk. So far okay. I need to do this coz once i'm back to work, she wont be with me for long hours...esp once i'm on-call. So I'll train her slowly for this month. Hope it'll be successful.

I still learn new things day by day. I really apreciate staying with mum. Grandma came over once in a while and she gave some tips on how to handle baby for dummy like me..hehe(she's extremely good at understanding baby language and their needs).

Frankly speaking to be a mummy is not as easy as you think. Babies are not equal to baby dolls.

Earlier on i mentioned expressed milk. Mind you, the process of Expressing breastmilk require a lot of patience. I've been doing this since last month and store 'em in freezer. I plan to use those milk once i'm back to work (FYI, expressed milk can last for 3 months in freezer). Been doing a lot of reading as I plan not to start on formula milk for this 1st 6 month. Will i be able to do this once i start working? I really hope so. I'll give it a try.

Last week on 20th went to weigh baby Sarah. She was at day 21 of life at that time. Shes already 3.95kg! Good for her!Wow can increase that much with only breastfeed. :)

Ah, yes speaking of weight I manage to weigh myself on that day as well. Before pregnancy i was 53kg and during pregnancy it was up til 70kg!

Current weight? 63kg!

Husband had 7 days of paternity leave.

7 days is like 7 seconds. Too short.

He left on the 5th of august.

Our dear Sarah couldn't sleep that night. She didn't even cry. But tears can be seen in her sleep. She woke up every hour just to look around. Must be looking for her daddy.

Daddy looked sad....extremely sad on the day he left...

She is in indeed...daddy's little girl :)

Hi! My name is Maisarah!

Finally, my baby's out on 30/7/09 at 10.05am with body weight of 3.07kg.

I was admitted a day before for induction of labour due to sudden baby weight increase (estimated from 3.1kg to 3.7kg within 1 week). But things started to change and thankfully detected early. I couldnt rmmbr much the sequence and wht happen in between. But being a patient esp when i was in pain really make me unable to think and diagnose myself.

- Admitted with no sign and symptom of labour yet

- Started to put in medication for induction of labour (aka prostin) on 29th July at 10.25am.

- Few hour in ward started to walk around hoping that progression will be soon and no 2nd insertion of prostin.

- Started to feel contraction frequently and regularly. I focus on relaxing and rhythmic breathing

-water break at 9.40pm on the same day right after my husband called me (thankfully he managed to get last flight on that same day). I was already at 4cm and pushed to labour ward for active phase monitoring.

- Thankfully, my husband came that night and accompany me all night long to massage my back. (Pity him for not sleeping since the morning he went to work on 29th) -The pain was greatly intense by dawn.

-After that i can't really recall what happened. I remembered i was offered for epidural or pethidine but i refused. I only rely on ethonox and concentrate on my breathing as well as my caring hubby keep on rubbing my back. felt extremely dehydrated.

-All i know is that, i suddenly developed fever in the labour ward and noted changes in CTG (a machine for fetal heart monitoring). I was given IV antibiotic.

-by 9 am i was almost full but position of baby head was 'OP direct'. I had urge to push and head was really down but unable to progress. They couldnt wait any longer and proceed with LSCS/c-sec as they fear that baby will not be ok.

-i was called to operation theater (OT) twice but i tried to pushed. still failed. finally proceed with the procedure. couldnt rmmbr much during the procedure. i was so sleepy. i was only alert when baby was out and was told i had chorioamnionitis(i was suprised to know bout this as i did not have sign and symptom of chorio) . No spontaneous cry and not vigorous according to husband. He accompanied me in OT and see how baby was doing on resuscitation table. He later told me apgar score was 2 in 1 minute and 9 in 5 seconds.

-Baby sent to nursery, admitted and treated as presumed sepsis.

- We were discharged on day 2 of operation and noted baby is free from any infection. (thankfully i was detected early).

- i manage to ask d specialist (before discharge, i manage to ask him coz i was curious)that in pregnant women chorio can develop rapidly and can b asymptomatic

- My loving husband for always supporting me and never fail to rub my back even though he was very tired and had sleepless night. Love you always!
- Parents and in laws for being there
- Medical staff and especially Dr N for being there with me and 'newly born grand-daughter'

Did scan on 14/7/09. Estimated weight is 3.1kg! oh my, seems to be growing healthily and happy in me :)

Even did a CTG just to see the baby's heartbeat. Hehe, like i have no other work to do. But that was great to hear his/her heart beating. Printed the graph and send to my hubby with some cute li'll message. :)

Hubby went back to KL tonite....just got back from airport and I feel so lonely. I just wish n wonder when we will be living like a normal happy family who live together. Goodbye is never my fav thing to do no matter how many times we go through that at the airport. I miss you dear. And I think our baby hate the separation too.

Ah, lets not talk furthur about it. Whatever it is, I will still love my hubby dearly :)

Oh and BTW, i'm anaemic....hmm....

Last week i did my antenatal check up (on Monday). During my previous visit (which i think i did post an entry about it last month), I stated that I'm carrying a lot of water in my womb (which may not be a good sign). And yep, I finally did my MOGTT (Modified Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) to see if I'm having any GDM (Gestational Diabetes Mellitus). Thank fully it was normal (refer to picture 2 and 3...below).

Also did scan last week, repeated AFI was 17. During that check up, i was about 36 weeks ++ and the parameter from scan is so far so good....growing well. Except that he/she is a shortie....(note: FL stand for Femur Length). Ah well,,,doesn't matter anyway, he/she will still be cute anyway :) N look at her/his estimated weight! Already 3 kg! Wowww!Still growing well despite being busy.

Speaking if busy....I'm back to work tomorrow....sighh.....so.....MALAS!

Had a great when hubby is around....eventhough nothing much can be done or to explore due to my big belly. But hey, I love and miss us being together.

We wanted to watch transformer together but too bad timing was not so good. His flight was at nite rite after the show ends, so I'm hoping that he can fly back to Kuching next week! Yay! Another 3 days off next week for us!

Fishy day

This morning as my friend and i got back from work, we head for hair wash and treatment and I had a sudden plan for a haircut. Its true that the bigger ur pregnancy get, you can't stand the heat. I cut my hair short and...yepp...i'm satisfied :)

Then, we plan for another pampering session. She wanted a massage. I wishhhhhh i can have a massage too but i dare not due to my pregnancy ( i do not want to risk my baby and have a retroplacental clots or many other risk). So we end up trying out fish spa. I just cn't believe we wanted to try that out. That was ticklish and creepy by looking at those whole bunch of fishes came to 'attck' your feet. Ewww! My friend and i even had goosebumps for that! We laughed and was being quite loud for most of the session until towards the end.....trying hard to 'desensitize' with those li'll creature. I don't think i'll go for it again. yuck!

Anyway, lets not think about it. Lets enjoy this cartoon....shall we? (psstt....quite a lesson to learn despite the yuckiness...:p...i'm waiting for the 2nd part of this cartoon)

Last night I was oncall. When my friend and I were free we play around with ultrasound scan on my belly to calculate the parameter andso on. Guess what my baby showed to us?

His/her foot!

And the weight now is roughly 2kg! My goodness! I'm carrying that much of weight everyday at work!

And I got a nickname from collegue of mine if i'm oncall wearing that blue scrubs

My husband came down to Kuching, that Saturday night, when i was oncall. Oh boy, i hv never felt so full of spirit during oncall that i can mission n get all job done ASAP and aim to be back home post call with hubby next to me ASAP. :)

Best thing happen on the day when i was oncall was, there is a patient from my ward gave me a box of soya bean milk as an appreciation with a simple 'thank you' attached to the drink. Ive never felt so appreciated after the whole hard work n being tired 24/7 in this dept. I hope that this patient will have better future ahead and have good health ahead. :) Thanks for the patience :).

Most patients..(well not all)...grumble and mumble on how 'long' they have to wait n how 'slow' we work when they do not know what i really happening with us (we work and did our best..n yet u guys just dont appreciate it).

- sometime..those who came earlier with no urgent case had to wait for hours due to patients who came later have more urgent and life threatening case which we can't just leave like that. Of coz we glance through all your cards but we will have to attend those who is having a life threatening situation. So please understand.

- sometime we work slow due to our 'post-oncall situation'(most of the time we dnt sleep during oncalls). we have to work as carefull as possible even with our half-asleep condition. Sure we can work fast masa separuh tdo...but what if we make mistake? So don't complain when we are slow....we just want to be careful :)

Anyway, back to my life, hubby's back to KL this morning. I hope he's doing fine. He as not feeling feeling well these few days and i had sleepless night taking care of him...pity him.

Anyway, good old fren of mine is around town this weekend, wish i can meet her tapi kinda tired and my life havent fit into this new schedule. Haiya...boring lah macam ni.

Oh btw, I must remind my self that i should be doing blood glucose test on myself this coming monday. No more procrastination.

Things i'm looking forward :

- hubby will be coming in 2 weeks time

- cant wait to show him how big our baby is growing

- buy some baby stuff

- having a good rest tomorrow

- sleep

- elevate my legs (i'm starting to see some varicose vein there....) believe me...i feel much better with my legs high up.

Currently waiting for my baby to move more in my tummy.

I did my antenatal check up at my workplace finally last Monday.

Baby looked well at that time. The specialist taught me n my fren how to ultrasound as well (myself as a patient...hehe). But we skipped the gender part since I plan not to know the baby's gender...:)

I'm starting to feel that he/she kick more often...hehe...wondering what he/she is doing in there :)

Currently ? 24 weeks.

I should've done my blood sugar test. But i haven't. Hm, I must do it next week!

I'm tired

Tagging is not a favourable week. I'm on night tag which mean i go to work at 11pm until 1pm. That will last for 7 days then I'll be on day tag from 7am (formally written but always come earlier) till 11pm for another 7 days. Total of 14 days of tagging. Still long way to go....

Replacing sleep during day time is never the same like sleeping beautifully at night. Pening la kepala saya

Trying to cope up with this new situation

Hope my baby is doing alrite and will always be until he/she is ready to be delivered. Hey that reminds me, i need to do check up this coming Monday.

Facing pregnant mums in labor ward is quite hard for me. Cant rush myself and act extremely fast. Can feel a li'll kick in me. I think this li'll baby doesnt like it.

Gestational age : 21 weeks

How do u feel? Any changes?

- backaches is standing/sitting for quite some time

- i can feel some kicking, turning and twisting

- I'm starting to see myself having belly...hehe

- have bigger appetite

- gained weight (think i'll check tommorrow)

- constipation

- walking speed decrease

- forgetfull

- lazy (aduh...next week change department..which means...tagging time....adoi..gimana nii?)

- difficulty to get up from bed (more of being lazy bum..hehe)

Working life?

- currently okay, I'm placed at a not so hectic wards and situation which is good for my current situation

but....

starting 18th march i'll be shifting to O&G (Obstetics and Gynaecology) which means I'll be....??? Unable to predict....heard a lot of bad stuff but well, like it or not i'll still be in that situation. If there is no obstacles, I will finish up my O&G dept before my baby due...(insya allah..) If there is....means i work halfway in O&G then after maternity leave...i'll repeat the whole thing...in that department? Well..what ever the future hold...I'll just face it...

The big question is.....

Can I face this challenge?

Finally i did my scan today. Glad to hear it's in the uterus. I do not know when my LMP was but i estimated mine about nearly 5 wks by now. If by scan, it's about 5-6 weeks. At least my estimation is not that far.

Sigh, life is difficult in new place of work. The superior are nice but several colleagues who are in same your level do not have teamwork or just leave their responsibility behind just because they are more senior. Oh boy, hate this situation.

Got to face and think how to work with these people. I hope I can survive. I'm very frustrated. :(

Today is my 1st day in Surgery Department. Halfway working this kind senior doctor (may God bless you for being nice) said I can start tomorrow. Didn't left instantly anyway. Helped my colleagues until settled with all new patients blood taking. That was a lot! I was still wandering around the ward like a mad cow. Not familiar with equipment storage.

Good thing i was allowed to start working tomorrow. Manage to re-check my 'query pregnant' status. Went to lab for test, however they gave the test strip and DIY.
Just did the test half an hour ago.

Result? VERY +.

So I AM Pregnant!

Need to find my time to register and get appointment for antenatal check up. When oh when?

Still can't believe that I'm a mother-to-be.

Well yesterday, i was extremely curious for some reason. So back from my half-day-work, i went to pharmacy and bought this thing (i didn't bring enough cash and i gambled, hoping that i can buy at least 1). Went home and did the test. The result? Refer to picture on your left.

I was still not satisfied..could be a false result. So I raced out of house and bought a different test. Silly me, i guess i wanted to be fast, end up bought something incorrect. So my experiment was delayed till late evening. Went out with my parents after makan and had window shopping.

So i bought a different brand and read properly this time. This time, got it right. Went home and did the test twice. Results? Refer to picture on your right.

Conclusion - I'm ...??

I plan to do a proper check up..but when? Tomorrow will be my 1st day of work at Surgery department. Hopefully i'll only have a week of tagging. Going to find my time to get the formal check up.

Big surprise for me and him. But hey, we're happy.

But the BIG question is...

My family and I planned to dine-out. As we drove somewhere near India Street we noticed that the road was cramped with lots of cars and sirens heard. Quite unusual for such thing to happen in Kuching. We managed to drive out of the road via backstreet road.

Something was on fire. But what?

We were so curious that we end up parked somewhere near Carpenter Street and walked to the site.

A shop located at an old market area burned down! That figures! Pity the owner.

1. You always remember "just one more thing" you need after you've gowned, gloved, and masked and gone into that isolation room

-this is sooo....true! Esp when it comes to aseptic technique produce. Go figure! Pissed off esp if i'm alone in treatment. Imagine had to the gown/glove & mask and get the I've forgotten and re'sterile' yourself all over again. Will only be lucky if at least a nurse is around so I kindly ask her to take the stupid item i've forgotten. damn!

2. There is always a way, and it usually doesn't work.
- that depends...sometime it works!

3.When management smiles at you, be afraid, very afraid ...
- haha....very....true :)

4. As soon as you discontinue the IV line, more fluids will be ordered.
-bingo!

5. Mandatory meetings are always scheduled after you've had the night from hell and just want to go home to bed.
- sometimes! Esp when I have presentation to do the day after the hectic oncall. I'll be monotonic, mumbling, garfield-eye look, can't even answer simple question (eg How are you?) and have lots of 'errr....'s and 'aahh....'s during the talk. So, hows that?

6. You always forget what it was you wanted after you get to the supply room. You always remember when you get back to the other end
-so VERY TRUE! I always curse myself for this!

7. Doctors only ask your name when the patient isn't doing well
-ahh well....true and will forget when he/she is okay. But hey, we do remember their faces.

8. Success occurs when no one is looking, failure occurs when the boss is watching.
- EXTREMELY 100% true! Then they start to question your competence and make a big fuss about it. Stressful at times. But some bosses do understand :)

Selamat Hari Raya...

So today is the day...the big day. Wishing everyone Selamat Hari Raya and Maaf Lahir Batin.

My raya this year really test my patience, Here's why...

- I got chicken pox
- I'm s'pose to travel to KL today to meet my husband
- Both of us will return to Kuching together the following day
- Today should be my first time celebrating raya at his kampung
- My grandpa have been hospitalized for 2 weeks + but couldnt visit him since i got chicken pox.
- I can't eat any raya delicacies (rendang, sate, etc etc...) **i'm drooling now**
- I can't meet friends and introduce them my husband...

ah well......what to do....

Us, stranded...

starting to get bored.....some passengers argued with pilot (badly wanted to fly off to kuching ..like NOW)

damn..have to go to work!

Ah well...as i was arriving Kuching airport...there was this bad thunderstorm. Tried to land twice (believe me, the 2nd attempt was bad and every1 end up being soooo damn quiet...praying hard).

Then felt the plane suddenly went ascending and head to Singapore. Phew! Well, things went well until the moment we touched down in Changi airport. We were passenger without passport (immigrants) and they crew of changi airport were taking extra precaution on us. In case if the plane was hijacked. So anyway, we were stuck in the plane for hourss....then managed to get out of plane...but alas! we were stuck again in the bus. They were still discussing weather to bring us into the terminal or not. They finally decided to wait for police officer to come....damn that was long!

We manage to get into the terminal roughly around 4am. They did major screening on us. And we were not allowed to get out of the waiting hall . Ah well....i end up sleeping at the chairs (had backpain the following day).

Anyway, we left Singapore around 650am to Kuching. Went straight to work after that (hehehe...didnt even brush my teeth!). Thank god i work half day. Nasty huh?

Paediatrics

Gud bye orthopedics, hello paediatrics...why this pic? well, since there are 2 adorable kids...and i happen to be in peads (so what..?!?)

Its been a month or so in this new department.

Shifting to new dept was tough (even till now), its like starting from A. Getting used to their routine and evryday life. 1 thing for sure, it's hectic than ortho.

Ah well, what the heck.

I have my ups and downs.

During my 1st few weeks, i had bad times. I nearly feel like giving up and cried like sh*t.
Back then (tagging week), i had to be in ward by 530am and will only be home at 11pm (the latest would be 12+am). And it goes round the clock until my tagging week ends. Lots of things happen. I was really really down. I had thoughts of giving up my job.

I've finally done my 1 month in nursery and it's about time for me to shift to Paeds Med tommorrow (erkk!).

Kinda miss nursery coz i used to play around with babies (and yes, i do feel like having baby of my own). huh?!
